‘Hunger Games’ Cast Subject of Racist Tweets
Amandla Stenberg (Rue), Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh), and Lenny Kravitz (Cinna) have all been recently the topic of racist tweets sent out by supposed ‘fans’ of the Hunger Games book series. These tweets are pretty awful, and quite ignorant of the actual books themselves. Amandla, Dayo, and Lenny should be seen as the amazing actors that they are in having helped to bring the Hunger Games story to life.
Yahoo: Although both Rue and Thresh are described as having “dark brown skin” in the book, some bigoted fans, oddly enough, object that both Stenberg and Okeniyi are black.
Complained one fan on Twitter: “Why does rue have to be black not gonna lie kinda ruined the movie.”
Added another ignorant fan: “Why did the producer make all the good characters black?”
“Why is Rue a little black girl? Stick to the book, dude,” said another.
For those of you who have seen Kaleb Nation‘s YouTube videos he enthusiastically responds to the racism with this fantastic video.

New Vanity Fair Picture of Young Cast of The’ Hunger Games’!
Vanity Fair did a piece on the young cast of The Hunger Games, including a new picture! The article includes a description of the actor, the character, and on how they landed their respective roles in the movie including Alexander Ludwig, Amandla Stenberg, Dayo Okeniyi, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jack Quaid, Jacqueline Emerson, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hembsworth! Here is Jennifer Lawrence’s description:
JENNIFER LAWRENCE
Age:
Hometown: Louisville, Kentucky.
Her role: Katniss Everdeen, District 12 tribute—the protagonist and narrator, Katniss took her sister Prim’s place in the Hunger Games, and is known for her fiery temper and strong archery skills. After her father passed away in a mine explosion, Katniss became the provider and nurturer for her family. She’s also caught in a love triangle between Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale (Liam Hemsworth).
On landing the part:“I auditioned, which was a long process and a lot of improv. And then waited a month or something, where I was convinced I didn’t have it—then I got the phone call while I was in London. I was then terrified. I knew it was going to be huge, and that’s scary. I called my mom. She said, ‘This is a script that you love, and you’re thinking about not doing it because of the size of it?’ And I [didn’t] want to not do something because I’m scared, so I said yes. And I’m so happy that I did.”

Fansites Reactions to ‘The Hunger Games’ Character Posters
With the release of the character posters Movies.com asked fansites for their favorite and least favorite posters and why. We were among the fansites that responded, I was able to squeeze in a response at the last minute! How about everyone else? We’d love to here your opinions on the posters; your favorite and least favorite and why.
Favorite: I really love Rue’s poster with the way she is looking down. It really represents her young and innocent character. All in all, I think all the posters look amazing; such beautiful photography.
Least Favorite: My least favorite would be Haymitch’s because I was hoping to see him more haggard and worn out, like he seems to be throughout most of book. To me, it doesn’t represent his character as much as the other posters do.
