MTV: Elizabeth Banks can’t wait to see the ‘Hunger Games’ Arena Scenes & More!

Elizabeth Banks (Effie Trinkett) talked to MTV’s Josh Horowitz about what scene she can’t wait to see in the Hunger Games! PLUS she secretly wanted the role of Effie when she initially read The Hunger Games!
“I’m really excited to see the actual Games,” she gushed.
Yes, Elizabeth Banks wants to see the armed and dangerous tributes tearing each other limb from limb just as much as the rest of us do…but, you know, not out of psychotic bloodlust or anything. Instead, Elizabeth described the character-driven importance of the whole arena scene—and noted that, in the context of the Games, even the “bad guys” have their own complex emotional journey to take.
“I’m really excited to see how that all plays out,” she said.
And what are the scenes of her own that she can’t wait to see in their final form?
“The Reaping, for sure,” she said. “The Reaping is amazing. We get to see a heroine step forward and show herself for the first time.”
Not to mention that Elizabeth is wearing one of the most interesting of her weird and wonderful Effie Trinket costumes during said scene—which our fashion-hungry fandom can’t wait to scope out in painstaking detail. And based on Elizabeth’s description, it sounds like a lot of the film’s actors will be excited to see the Reaping…even the ones who were, technically, already in attendance.
“It was a really remarkable scene to shoot, and it was a really difficult scene to shoot,” Elizabeth said, going on to explain that the Reaping was filmed on a day when the temperature soared to over 100 degrees. And for the extras called upon to play would-be tributes, the weather was bad news: “We had all these young kids there, just dropping like flies.”
Oh yeah, I can’t wait to see the arena! Well, actually EVERYTHING!
More of Elizabeth’s interviews with Josh after the break! She’s Team Peeta!! I love her. She is the PERFECT EFFIE!!
District Recruiters and Mayors Receive Gifts from The Capitol
Part of the honor of being selected as a district recruiter or mayor was getting an official uniform, and over the last few days they have been coming in the mail. Here’s some information that I’ve gotten via Twitter: The packages originated from Victorville, CA, they smell of roses like President Snow, and include a t-shirt, pin, official DIP and Capitol Couture card. I’m wondering if other fans will be able to buy District Swag at the Capitol Couture, although one can only hope. But anyhow, check out some of the pictures recruiters have shared of their gifts, with more after the break:

Hunter Games: An Old Needle Stitch Sewing Embroidery Pattern of a Bird With a Bow & Arrow
I know there are some crafty folks out there, and I instantly fell in love with this old sewing pattern that shows a bird on a tree limb wielding a bow and arrow.
It maintains the vibe of The Hunger Games in a discreet way, while not out-and-out shouting it.
The pattern was originally created as a reference to an old English nursery rhyme, “Cock Robin” from the 18th century-
Who killed Cock Robin?
I, said the Sparrow,
with my bow and arrow,
I killed Cock Robin.
Who saw him die?
I, said the Fly,
with my little eye,
I saw him die.
Who caught his blood?
I, said the Fish,
with my little dish,
I caught his blood.
