To put it simply, I love the Hunger Games Trilogy and I'm very excited to be an intern for the HungerGamesMovie.org.

Target to Sell 14-Carat Gold Mockingjay Pins
Have you been saving up for something extra special? Or maybe you’re just fortunate enough to have some spare cash lying around you house? If you’ve answered yes to either of these questions, and are a HUGE Hunger Games fan you’re in luck because Target is coming out with some very interesting, but pricey, Hunger Games collectables.
To coincide with the release of the DVD/Blue-Ray of the movie on August 18th Target will be selling the following items in very limited quantities:
- Replica Mockingjay pins made of 14-carat gold at $999
- Replicas of the leather jacket Katniss wears in District 12, pictured below at $349
- Lithographs having the signatures of 10 of the movie’s stars, including Lawrence at $699
I think it’s interesting that Target, who’s known for selling reasonably priced item, would be offering these higher end items, but I’m sure they won’t have trouble selling off these products very quickly. Which one do you want the most?

Jena Malone Offered the Role of Johanna Mason
According to The Hollywood Reporter Jena Malone has been offered the part of Johanna Mason in Catching Fire, the second installment of The Hunger Games movies.
Malone has the offer and is in early negotiations for the part, according to sources. The move nixes premature reports that pegged newbie actress-model Zoe Aggeliki as the front-runner to play the ax-wielding former Hunger Games winner from District 7, who aligns with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) in their return to the arena for an all-star death match.
What do you think about Malone being offered the part? Disappointed? Satisfied? Hoping she’ll turn it down? Let us know in the comments.

Free Download of Rue’s Mockingjay Whistle at Amazon
Today Amazon Movies & TV tweeted this link to a free download of Rue’s whistle on their site.
When you click the link the title of the song is “Official Hunger Games Instrumental”, which is a little vague, but the album is listed as “Hunger Games Mockingjay Call”. Also, the preview of the song definitely confirms it is the mockingjay whistle. Any fans out there considering making it their ring tone? I personally think it’s a pretty great suggestion on Amazon’s part.

Book Review – The Hunger Games and Philosophy: A Critique of Pure Treason
When given the chance to read and review The ‘Hunger Games’ and Philosophy: A Critique of Pure Treason I jumped at the opportunity because the title of the book was very intriguing. The book is part of the Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture Series, which has examined other entities like Harry Potter and The Game of Thrones. I wasn’t familiar with this series before reading the book, but was surprised/relieved to discover that the book was actually a series of essays from different authors, because with philosophy reading the same point for view for hundreds of pages could get taxing.
The ‘Hunger Games’ and Philosophy is divided into seven sections covering the following topics (1) Art/Music, (2) Morality, (3) Science, (4) Love, Caring and Gender, (5) Identity, (6) Warfare and (7) Political Philosophy. I found the essays to be well written for the most part and the different category sections were helpful in finding places to break while reading. Unlike The Hunger Games Trilogy you won’t find cliff hangers in this book, which also makes it a good book to pick up and put down when necessary. It also covers situations and events across the trilogy, so unless you don’t mind spoilers read all three Hunger Games books first. There are a few mistakes in the text, like interchanged names, but unless you are a super exact to the trilogy text perfectionist it shouldn’t bother you too much.
