To put it simply, I love the Hunger Games Trilogy and I'm very excited to be an intern for the HungerGamesMovie.org.
Victory Tour 2013 is sure to be the best book fan event of 2013. Its main focus is The Hunger Games, with a focus on other dystopian books as well. However, in order for this convention to take place, The Gamemakers need your help. The convention will not go on if it does not get 100 more registrations before the end of the year. Watch the below video of Head Gamemaker Ellie covering topics that may be of concern to some.
If you want to register for the Victory Tour, you can go here.
After a few changes which added in a few more fan favorites Victory Tour 2013 opened up their registration. Here’s what the Victory Tour Gamemakers had to say about the location, dates and types of registrants the convention will include. There are also some details about the bonuses early registrants will receive, so check it out below:
After a few minor set backs and much anticipation, Victory Tour 2013 would like to announce the dates and location of the convention: June 19-22, 2013 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Two registration levels are currently available for purchase: Citizen Registration and Rebel Registration. Lit Day is available for Citizens to purchase separately and is included with the Rebel registration fee. Attendance for the event has been maxed out at 500 to ensure the quality of the experience for all attendees and the availability to attend and participate in main stage and interactive events. Only 200 Rebel registrations will be available. As we secure special guests, additional options, such as autographs, will become available.
We encourage attendees to stay at the hotel at which the convention will take place, which will help in supporting the convention as well as make your experience more cohesive. A special group rate will be available for convention attendees. The link for the hotel will be provided in the coming weeks.
To access the Registration page, simply go to http://VictoryTour2013.com and click on the “Register” tab.
for those of you that choose to jump in and register early. The first people to register (specific details below) will receive an exclusive meet and greet with the cast and crew of Tributes: a Hunger Games Fan Musical! The only way to join this meet and greet is by registering early and ensuring your position. This bonus ends when whichever of these conditions is met first:
1. Register by November 25 at 11:59 PM (That’s two weeks from today!)
2. Be one of the first 50 people to register.
This means that if we reach 50 BEFORE November 25, the bonus will end. If the time limit comes and we have not reached 50, the bonus will also end. So register as soon as you can to get a spot! If you have already registered, your spot counts for the bonus.

Here’s another behind the scenes video, this time courtesy of Wired, which features Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh), Jack Quaid (Marvel), Willow Shields (Prim) and Amandla Stenberg talking about some of the funny moments that happened on set, and how it was almost like a camp. It also features some clips from the movie, so if you haven’t seen it yet and don’t want any spoilers you might want to avoid this video
Check out this video clip that is part of the Blue-ray release ofThe Hunger Gamesmovie. It features Willow Shields (Prim), Alexander Ludwig (Cato) and Isabelle Fuhrman (Clove) discussing what it was like working on the North Carolina set.
Have you been saving up for something extra special? Or maybe you’re just fortunate enough to have some spare cash lying around you house? If you’ve answered yes to either of these questions, and are a HUGE Hunger Games fan you’re in luck because Target is coming out with some very interesting, but pricey, Hunger Games collectables.
To coincide with the release of the DVD/Blue-Ray of the movie on August 18th Target will be selling the following items in very limited quantities:
- Replica Mockingjay pins made of 14-carat gold at $999
- Replicas of the leather jacket Katniss wears in District 12, pictured below at $349
- Lithographs having the signatures of 10 of the movie’s stars, including Lawrence at $699
I think it’s interesting that Target, who’s known for selling reasonably priced item, would be offering these higher end items, but I’m sure they won’t have trouble selling off these products very quickly. Which one do you want the most?
According to The Hollywood Reporter Jena Malone has been offered the part of Johanna Mason in Catching Fire, the second installment of The Hunger Games movies.
Malone has the offer and is in early negotiations for the part, according to sources. The move nixes premature reports that pegged newbie actress-model Zoe Aggeliki as the front-runner to play the ax-wielding former Hunger Games winner from District 7, who aligns with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) in their return to the arena for an all-star death match.
What do you think about Malone being offered the part? Disappointed? Satisfied? Hoping she’ll turn it down? Let us know in the comments.
Today Amazon Movies & TV tweeted this link to a free download of Rue’s whistle on their site.
When you click the link the title of the song is “Official Hunger Games Instrumental”, which is a little vague, but the album is listed as “Hunger Games Mockingjay Call”. Also, the preview of the song definitely confirms it is the mockingjay whistle. Any fans out there considering making it their ring tone? I personally think it’s a pretty great suggestion on Amazon’s part.
When given the chance to read and review The ‘Hunger Games’ and Philosophy: A Critique of Pure Treason I jumped at the opportunity because the title of the book was very intriguing. The book is part of the Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture Series, which has examined other entities like Harry Potter and The Game of Thrones. I wasn’t familiar with this series before reading the book, but was surprised/relieved to discover that the book was actually a series of essays from different authors, because with philosophy reading the same point for view for hundreds of pages could get taxing.
The ‘Hunger Games’ and Philosophy is divided into seven sections covering the following topics (1) Art/Music, (2) Morality, (3) Science, (4) Love, Caring and Gender, (5) Identity, (6) Warfare and (7) Political Philosophy. I found the essays to be well written for the most part and the different category sections were helpful in finding places to break while reading. Unlike The Hunger Games Trilogy you won’t find cliff hangers in this book, which also makes it a good book to pick up and put down when necessary. It also covers situations and events across the trilogy, so unless you don’t mind spoilers read all three Hunger Games books first. There are a few mistakes in the text, like interchanged names, but unless you are a super exact to the trilogy text perfectionist it shouldn’t bother you too much.
