Hands-On with the Hunger Games Arena Jacket, Katniss Action Figure and Four Accessories

The licensed merchandise for The Hunger Games is going full-throttle today with more than 30 new items from NECA. We have an exclusive look at six pieces from the collection.

Arena Jacket

The Arena Jacket is constructed from a black parachute-type material that has the same texture as the jacket Katniss wears in the “World Will Be Watching” poster, crinkles and all.

The nylon jacket has a buttoned front that reveals a sturdy zipper and drawstrings for the hood, so it’s very wearable. It’s available in sizes XS to XXL for $49.99.

NECA is also showing off a more expensive replica of the jacket with a cinched waste and double-lined hood for $119.99. Both versions top my newfound list of “best movie merchandise ever made,” so you’re not going wrong whichever you choose.

Katniss Action Figure

This 7″ action figure of Katniss has arena gear of boots, jacket and khakis. On her back is a quiver and backpack. Removable accessories include a threaded bow and three arrows.

The figure has 10 points of articulation and Katniss’ hand is molded to hold the bow, so it’s great for for posing in exotic locales. I can’t wait to see the “Katniss at the Eiffel Tower” and “Katniss at the Great Pyramids” shots.

Yes, the face is a little uncanny-valley-creepy, but that’s a limitation of plastic molding at a small scale. For its size, it’s a great sculpt. NECA is also making figures of Gale and Peeta. The set of three runs $53.99.

Hunger Games Capitol Coal Socks

These socks are comfy, cute and have the District 12 logo stitched in black. What more can you ask from a sock? Check out the official pics.

Hunger Games Pajamas with Mockingjay Logo

This pajama set includes a white sleeveless top with a screenprinted Mockingjay logo and a pair of soft and stretchy black pants with a Mockingjay on the left leg. Great post-workout or pre-snooze for $34.99.

Mockingjay with Flames Beanie

This black beanie has a flaming Mockingjay on it. You can’t actually transform into the Girl on Fire, but this cap will get your head in the game. $11.99.

Hunger Games Umbrella

This is a black travel-sized umbrella with a red handle. Fire surrounds the rim and the Mockingjay is on one half.  It includes a flame-covered pouch for storage. I’m not sure if fire beats water, but it does now. $21.99.
