Liam Hemsworth On His Similarities With Gale

In his interview with MovieFone, Liam Hemsworth revealed that he does, indeed, share a distinct characteristic with his character Gale Hawthorne.

“Gale is a very strong person inside and out,” said the 21-year-old Australian. “He’s constantly standing up for what he believes in and trying to stay true to himself and not giving into this evil power. I’ve always been taught to be true to myself and stand up for what I believe in.”

Many fans remain skeptical about whether Liam can truly pull of the role of Katniss’ partner in crime (literally) since his only acting chops that we can evaluate thus far are displayed in chick-flick “The Last Song.” And though we haven’t heard from this third of the HG love triangle very much, Liam seems to really understand who Gale is at his core. Hopefully that knowledge will translate well on screen!

He looks kind of old to be Gale, but hopefully he’ll play Gale well. Even if he doesn’t, though, Peeta will be the one with more screen time if they follow the book closely.

I’m really happy with him as Gale. He has this somber, very steady demeanor that I think really fits. Very grounded in reality. I think he’s going to be fantastic. (Also, his brother was Thor! Talk about a frickin gold mine gene pool!)

Liam is going to make a great Gale! He really understands what the character is about!! If that same emotion and feeling is on the screen, then Liam Hemsworth will soon be Gale Hawthorne. (Well, technically he already is.)

I think he screams the essence of Gale. He’s got that whole rugged manly look about him which was how I pictured him when I was reading. Plus he has that soldier of rebellion thing going on, and he aint half bad to look at either!

He has been in so many Aussie T.V and movies its just that the Americans havent seen it! Liam is awesome!
Liam is the best Gale, he has the build and look EVERYTHING! He is manly and strong and really nice because I meet him.

You’re right of course. I wish I had access to those TV shows…it would be good to see
him in a variety of roles. Unfortunately, all I have to look at is the Last Song. Actually,
it turns out that he was in “Knowing” as well, though I believe it was a pretty minor
role.
