Cook The Capitol’s Springtime Soup

6 Comments January 17, 2012 by Filed Under: Hunger Games Food

It’s Tuesday, which means another installment of ‘Hungry for Hunger Games’ by the Schemestresses! In this episode Jill demonstrates her original recipe of The Capitol soup that Katniss thought tastes like springtime in Catching Fire. The recipe was actually created for The ‘Hunger Games’ Recipe Contest being run by the Mercury News so maybe this video will inspire your own entry.

In the video Jill uses an immersion blender, which many of you might not own, but I’m pretty sure that a regular blender or some food processors could give you the same results. The only difference would be the soup might cool down some while blending since it won’t be over the burner, but you can always heat it back up. The end result is a  beautiful green soup, which I think would fit into The Capitol perfectly since they like bright colors there so much.

Even though it’s healthy, it looks DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!

I don’t understand why she doesn’t add the broth before the green veggies and then wilt the veggies in the liquid. It would go much faster. I also think that the recipe could use a bit of salt to taste, depending on how much salt the broth has. Otherwise, so good, even as a cold vegetable drink.
