Choose Your Apocalyptic Boyfriend Now – Peeta and Gale Face-Off

As much as I dislike the ‘Team’ discussions there is a new post out by AfterElton that puts the subject into a humorous article about how to choose your fictional boyfriend when the apocalypse occurs. The loving Peeta and brooding Gale are on this list along with their pros and cons of being the perfect companion in the end times. So who would you choose and why?

Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) – The Hunger Games

Professional Apocalypse Experience: the Rob Kardashian of the Post-World War, totalitarian regime that enjoys murdering children for fun

Pros – Since Peeta isnot starving to death like most of the people he knows, Peeta is more likely to not die then some of the other immediate allies you might find. Plus, he’s a good baker and quite the artist.

Cons – It’s hard to bake well when you have no food, so that ends up being pretty unhelpful. Peeta also suffers from PTSD after watching the ritual murder of many of his friends, so he can be a tad unpredictable at times and really shouldn’t be trusted around sharp objects.

Survival Odds – Maybe 20%. Peeta is a big fan of sacrificing himself to save the person that he loves, so he will totally throw himself in front a bullet for you, but that tactic is really only effective once, so after that, you’re pretty much on your own.

Hotness Factor – Portrayed by actor Josh Hutcherson in the upcoming Hunger Games films, who is definitely attractive, but you’ll have to overlook the fact that 19-year old Josh looks about 12.

Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) – The Hunger Games

Professional Apocalypse Experience – post World War, totalitarian regime.

Pros – Gale is a great hunter, often providing food for his family as well as the other starving members of his village. He is also surprisingly tolerant of watching the person he loves pretend to be in love with someone else on national television.

Cons – He’s not much a communicator, which can be incredibly frustrating to be in a relationship with. Plus, he demonstrates a bit of a bloodlust, sociopathic streak later on, so there’s that to deal with.

Survival Odds – Probably about 50/50. Gale has a lot of practical skills that can serve you well in the apocalypse, like hunting, and he is the epitome of a pragmatist. Unfortunately, he is not afraid to stand up and challenge authority, which will probably get you killed in retribution, so you might want to watch out for that

Hotness Factor – Gale has that dark, brooding thing going on, and he is portrayed by Liam Hemsworth, who is beefy and Australian, which is totally hot, but he’s also dating Miley Cyrus, which is kind of icky.

I love Peeta! He would do anything for you! And he knows how to survive as he did survive 2 hunger games, and he is the most loving and compassionate person who still knows how to get what he wants or needs! As far as hotness factor: Josh Hutcherson is totally hot!! And he does not look 12 years old he looks his age. As far as this movie he is supposed to o ly be 16 which he pulls off amazingly! He is a superb actor who will do peeta proud!!!

Peeta is by far my favorite character. He is the smartest, the sweetest, the calmest, etc. Josh Hutcherson is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ) i also LOVE art, Peeta’s personality is by far the closest to mine out of all the characters. Gale is so harsh, I can’t picture Katniss being happy with him. Peeta is also interactive and smart, I love that. He will sacrifice himself for the ones he loves and he won’t give up trying to protect them from harm. Peeta’s personality is what i look for in a person. Suzanne Collins couldn’t have done a better job at making you understand Peeta, and who he is as a person I know for a fact Josh Hutcherson is not going to fail, they couldn’t have chosen a better Peeta!! )

He loves Katniss and that is portrayed throughout the entire book, he may not be able to hunt as well as Gale but he learns tosurvivw in the games( with the help of Katniss of course). I really hate team talk… but that was really funny! Personally, I think that the best strategy for survival is to live alone with a bunch of cats whom you train to become your unholy army. Cats are gonna take over the world someday, I’m telling you. But if they don’t, I’d totally choose a house of rabid cats that do my bidding than a guy. If I had to choose, though, I’d choose Peeta. Peeta because he is sweet, kind, caring, intelligent, calm, and more. His personality is just so charming. When you listen to his words, you become “hypnotized” and can’t help but listen. He cares about who he loves so much, especially Katniss. Also, the fact that he gave Katniss that bread when they were 11 years old, shows his kind and genuine heart. Peeta can soothe anyone who is in pain and comforts them. Josh Hutcherson will be PERFECT for this part!! He is going to stay true to the book. Maybe, just maybe, part of the reason as well, is because he is really CUTE!!!

Holy shit some of these comments piss me right off.
First of all Gale is amazing. He loved Katniss no matter what you people say, and Katniss loved him. I think she even realised she loved him before she loved Peeta.
Gale did everything he could for Katniss. He helped her survive, taught her more about hunting, kept her family alive, volunteered to go on a mission to help save Peeta even it meant risking his life. He obviously loves her. Just because he isn’t what you all call “sweet”, “charming” and “perfect” doesn’t mean he is some heartless asshole that some make him out to be. Yes, he’s just a tad bloodthristy and changes abit in the last book but what do you expect? It was during war and he’d been raised that way, plus all the hunting and providing for his family and Katniss’s. He struggled everyday along with Katniss to survive and provide for his family. He is the way is because he needs to survive somehow. It’s the exact same thing with Katniss.If he were a sweet charming boy like Peeta he wouldn’t last a week and wouldn’t be able to keep providing for others. Peeta was brought up in a reasonably rich family and was fed everyday. He didn’t have to fend for himself or provide for his family. I guess that’s why girls love Peeta. They always go for the simple choice rather than taking a chance on someone who has his flaws. Personally i’d go for Gale. I love Peeta but, there is something about Gale. Plus all these comments like “OMG THE BOY WITH THE BREAD” “OH PEETA IS SO SWEET” “PEETA LOVES KATNISS” “GALE SHOULD DIE” and etc etc just make me love Gale even more.

I like Peeta’s appearance more but honestly I love Gale’s personality more. because he rose from nothing. I like flaws. And honestly, Peeta has more flaws than Gale. Gale took care of his family and Katniss’s. As much as I think peeta is cute, I think Gale is a lot more dependable and loving. He loved Katniss before the hunger games. It broke his heart to see her making out with Peeta on national TV. But he never once gave up on her. He stayed strong and took care of her family while she was away. So I might be more attracted to Peeta but I definitely would value Gale more. After all Peeta’s character was so much harder to trust during the actual hunger Games.

Huh? Josh Hutcherson looks like 12?! No, he really doesn’t.. How long has it been since you’ve been around a 12-year old boy? In fact, I didn’t even realize he was under 20 until I checked his bio (I actually thought he looked older in the movie than in real life). And I think Jennifer is quite baby faced herself, except in makeup, and can pass for a teenager. I thought they looked about the same age in the movie until everyone started telling me I’m supposed to be terribly bothered that the actor is 2 years younger than the actress (shock horror). It’s like people complaining that Jennifer is not skinny enough: just stupid.
