Jennifer Lawrence wows at the BAFTAs
On Sunday, the stars took to the rain for Britain’s answer to the Oscars, the BAFTAs, with The Hunger Games’ Jennifer Lawrence hoping to clinch the Best Actress nod for her stunning performance as Tiffany in Silver Linings Playbook.
Lawrence, who looked beautiful in a Dior Haute Couture gown, certainly made an impression on host Stephen Fry, a British comedian and actor, who asked her to blow a kiss at one of the cameras.
Lawrence, seen right with director Quentin Tarantino, looked a shoe-in for Best Actress after meeting with success at the SAG awards and the Golden Globes, but it wasn’t to be.
For Emmanuelle Riva, who will turn 86 on the night of the Oscars, received the honour for her performance in French film Amour.
Still, it wasn’t all bad for Silver Linings, as it received the Adapted Screenplay gong.
The Best Actress Oscars tussle was thought to be between Lawrence and Jessica Chastain, for her role in Zero Dark Thirty, but Riva’s BAFTAs success may have changed that.
Do you think Lawrence will clinch the coveted award? Or will she fall at the final hurdle as in 2011, when she lost out to Natalie Portman?
