Philip Seymour Hoffman to Play Plutarch Heavensbee?

plutarch heavensbee Philip Seymour Hoffman to Play Plutarch Heavensbee? philipseymourhoffmanasplutarchheavensbeeJeff Snieder of Variety has reported via Twitter that Philip Seymour Hoffman was recently presented the role of Head Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Hoffman is a well-known actor, who took home a 2005 Oscar for Best Actor in the movie “Capote” and starred as the villain in action blockbuster “Mission: Impossible III” in 2006.

It is not known if Philip Seymour Hoffman has accepted and Lionsgate has not confirmed that such an offer was made yet. So, until we hear otherwise, consider this a rumor.

I think I approve of this casting choice, if it is official and not just a rumor. I never really had an image of Plutarch in my mind while reading “Catching Fire” and “Mockingjay,” as his appearance was not described at length, if at all. Philip Seymour Hoffman is certainly a great actor and there’s no reason he wouldn’t be able to pull it off. I don’t know why, but with those glasses and the facial hair, Hoffman just screams Plutarch to me. And, oddly enough, he’s got the same initials as the Head Gamemaker.

What do YOU think of Philip Seymour Hoffman potentially playing Plutarch?

Thanks to Tay for catching this!

I know this may sound off topic but a few months ago I actually got to see philip seymour hoffman in the death of a salesman and he was incredible though he did not win the tonys but he still did really good.

I find PSH’s face a little disturbing. I always imagined Plutarch to be tall & slightly balding. A little slimmer than Hoffman’s been lately. Wish they’d look @ casting some unknowns. Otherwise it’s just a matter of watching some famous person take on a role. Hard to forget how many other times you’ve seen them — and how similar they make all their roles.

I agree with what you said about unknown actors I think it would be more interesting if they picked someone that no one really knows. And will prob end up being a better more convincing choice. Its the same thing they did with the twilight movies most of the actors they found were pretty much nobodys at first but then they became very well known and are now doing a lot of really interesting films especially with robert. So I think they should consider finding an unknown actor and the same thing goes to finnick

Yes exactly….Twilight had such an underground cast Kristen is now doing SWATH

I do agree actually, i think films are generally better with actors you haven’t seen before as you automatically think of them how they were in that roll!! :)

  • Tanya Doycheva

I thing he is perfect for this role. He is very good actor and I always imagined Putarch a bit chubby ;)

I have never really came up with a picture of Plutarch either. But PSH is a great actor, and I wouldn’t mind him playing Plutarch.

  • Joshua Yamada

I think he’s perfect for the part!

I think whoever they choose for Plutarch will be perfect I have no doubt that they will choose someone who is awful

  • Peeta’s #1 Fan

That is just how I imagined Putarch.
